PCA is currently using the leading cryptography expertise of Keybase to further build trust in the remote delivery of PCA digital services (lets call it the ‘Remote Delivery Trust’). The company that PCA currently uses for management of our ‘Remote Delivery Trust’ (using public key cryptography), Keybase, has just been acquired by Zoom, the leading video communications company. This is great news and a powerful endorsement of the encryption security expertise of Keybase. It also gives further confidence to clients of PCA, as it further validates our choice of Keybase for our ‘Remote Delivery Trust’ process. As Zoom has selected it for improving the security of Zoom video communications, it has to be a very high standard of security. This ‘Remote Delivery Trust’ builds another layer of trust on top of PCA’s ‘Core Trust Design’. Our ‘Core Trust Design’ is built into our independent, highly objective assessments of industrial process chemistry performance. We use the industrial site’s own data and proven, peer-reviewed statistical algorithms to report on the data. We prefer to use open source software such as R and Python that is open to peer review by the worldwide community of industry and academic experts. Sometimes we use excellent proprietary analytics like SAS, Minitab, Stata, IBM SPSS (which has a portal to R). Whatever we use, the method of analysis is documented and the algorithms have been peer reviewed. As part of our ‘Core Trust Design’, the Founder of PCA has decades of experience in the application of industrial process chemistry, knows the issues, terminology and technologies involved. For all of these reasons, trust is further built into PCA process chemistry reports. It is however important that our ‘Core Trust Design’ is not so rigid that it inhibits creativity. Our business model allows for this and includes the organic, networked nature of collaborative creativity. Overall, the mission of PCA is to provide a reliable, independent objective assessment of process chemistry for suppliers and industrial sites. Here is a quote from the announcement at Zoom Blog
“We are proud to announce the acquisition of Keybase, another milestone in Zoom’s 90-day plan to further strengthen the security of our video communications platform. Since its launch in 2014, Keybase’s team of exceptional engineers has built a secure messaging and file-sharing service leveraging their deep encryption and security expertise. We are excited to integrate Keybase’s team into the Zoom family to help us build end-to-end encryption that can reach current Zoom scalability.”
Here is a quote from the announcement at Keybase Blog:
“For many weeks, everyone on earth has faced the same question: “How do we keep life moving forward if we can’t meet in person?” Teachers, small businesses, big businesses, local governments, and even our families: they’ve all turned to video communications. The world’s connections are unbroken thanks to screens and cameras, and Zoom has exploded from an enterprise application to a household name, helping to keep the economy alive and families together. Hundreds of millions of participants (free and paid) are using it every day.” … FAQ How in the world did Keybase and Zoom do an M&A deal during a pandemic? Using Zoom
